Chef Instructors
The Kitchen in Melrose, MA offers cooking classes to children, teens, adults, and business teams. If you like to cook and teach, this is a great job for you! You will be the catalyst to our students gaining confidence in the kitchen, adding to their skill sets and learning about nutrition. You will be providing kids, individuals, couples , businesses, and groups of friends with an alternative educational experience! Hours vary depending upon when classes and events are scheduled. This is a part time per diem position that is paid by the class.
Responsibilities
-
Greet customers as they arrive for cooking classes.
-
Set-up of kitchen and lecture space as needed, and inventory check at least 1 hour before the scheduled start of class.

Production and teaching responsibilities: up to 30 minutes of classroom lecture and 1 hour-3.5 hours of hands on cooking (depending on the class)

Provide direction and feedback to recreational students of varying skill levels to ensure successful classroom operations and an outstanding educational and enjoyable experience for customers.

Ensures all food items are cooked and served properly and under sanitary conditions.

Adjust teaching style to meet needs of diverse group of participants (kids, teens, adults, beginners, advanced, etc.)

Ensure that the kitchen is organized and left in proper condition for the cleaning crew; this includes checking that all equipment is turned off, dirty dishes and equipment are left in good order for the dish washers, and leftover inventory items and equipment are returned to their proper locations.

Perform other duties as needed, directed or assigned.

Class days will vary, including nights and weekends-will coordinate with your schedule.

Follow health and safety guidelines.

Retail Associate - Bread Shop & Kitchen Collaboration

In this role, you will assist in providing an exceptional customer experience, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting the team in both the retail and kitchen areas. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, answering questions about our products, and making recommendations.

Operate the register, process transactions, and handle cash/credit payments accurately.

Stock racks and display areas with fresh products, ensuring everything is organized and visually appealing.

Assist with food prep or packaging items as needed.

Keep the store clean and organized, including front-of-house and workstations.

Ensure that all products are properly labeled and displayed.

Follow food safety and hygiene standards.

Collaborate with The Kitchen and retail team to maintain smooth daily operations.

Qualifications:

Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work weekdays and some weekends.

Passion for high-quality baked goods and food in general is a plus.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Job Overview:
The Bread Shop is seeking a reliable and passionate Overnight Assistant Baker to join our team. This role will involve working overnight to assist in the preparation and baking of a wide range of artisanal breads, pastries, and other baked goods. You will be part of a dynamic team, ensuring that the bakery is stocked with fresh, high-quality products for our morning customers.
Key Responsibilities:

Baking & Preparation:

Assist in the preparation of dough, batters, and other ingredients for various baked goods.

Operate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers.

Follow recipes and baking instructions to produce high-quality breads, pastries, and other items.

Ensure proper portioning and shaping of dough to maintain consistency in products.

Inventory Management:

Monitor and maintain inventory levels of baking ingredients.

Assist in ordering and stocking ingredients as needed, ensuring freshness and quality.

Check and rotate stock to prevent waste and ensure freshness.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the shift.

Working Hours:
